Glacier National Park

Some friends and I went on a highly controversial backpacking trip to Glacier National Park last summer (2001).  For those who have never been there, let me attempt to help you understand how beautiful it is by offering this tidbit:  the employees at Glacier don't get paid.

While visiting the park, we went on two backpacking trips.  The first was to a mesquito-infested lake, and the second was to the lake shown in the picture (right).  Unfortunately, my scanner didn't accurately pick up the lake's color - a brilliant aquamarine.  The green in the lake comes from the glacier melt - I don't know the science behind it, but if anybody does, I'd be interested in hearing it.
