A River Runs through It |
|
| I
work as a research engineer/technical writer for an environmental center at the Utah Water Research
Laboratory. The lab is located just below 1st Dam in Logan and is
the test site for many river-related projects.
I'm currently developing the training materials for a watershed analysis software program that was developed by the Environmental Protection Agency. A typical workday involves researching various water quality related processes (such as sediment entering a river and transporting nutrients downstream) and then writing about them. I also edit a lot of documents. The best part of my job is the fieldwork. For a few days last summer, my research group was assigned to camp near the Teton Valley River (near the Teton mountains) to collect hourly water samples. We were paid to read books, go swimming, and relax under the sun - oh, and collect a bottle of water once an hour. Very nice. |
